What’s the difference between POP and IMAP?

All Email Accounts with Dotology can be checked via IMAP or POP protocol.

When email is checked via IMAP, you are seeing the messages on a server-level. The email is viewable from your device, but is stored on the server. This is perfect if you check your email from multiple computers or a computer and a mobile device.

When email is checked via POP, the messages are downloaded to the device itself. We recommend using POP if you check your email only on a single device, if you need to work with your mail offline, or if your IMAP account is performing slowly.
