How do I purchase an SSL Certificate?

To purchase an SSL Certificate, you will first need to generate a private key and a certificate signing request (CSR) from the server the domain name is being hosted on.  The domain name must also be hosted on a dedicated IP address.

To purchase an SSL Certificate, follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to your Dotology Dashboard
  2. Select “Security” in the navigation bar
  3. Click “SSL Certificates” in the drop-down menu
  4. Choose the certificate and select “Add Certificate” for the one you wish to purchase
  5. Choose your server type (If you are using Dotology Hosting, the server type will be cPanel)
  6. Paste your CSR in the field provided.  Please note that your CSR includes the

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----

and

-----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----

lines.

  1. Click “Continue” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase.

After the purchase is complete with Dotology, you will receive an e-mail to validate your identity from the certificate authority.  Once the validation has been processed, you will receive the certificate in an e-mail from Dotology.
